BEATO CHI CI CREDE – Rivista astrattista esibizionista

Music project by the original, astonishing and fierce duo made by Camilla Barbarito, leader of the surreal and zany Milan rock band Nina Madù e Le Reliquie Commestibili, and Ernesto Tomasini, actor and singer, a cult figure as defined by the international press thanks to his 4-octave vocal range and his original performing style. Beato chi ci crede is a flamboyant variety, a thousand lights that radiate from a single investigating bulb and point at the innermost shadows of human soul. Two daring voices twirl on the rope of fate in a dizzying flight of reckless demisemiquavers, offering us songs of unconditional hate and stories of self-serving love! Finally an unbelievable show that one can believe: Beato chi ci crede! (Lucky those who believe it!)

Ernesto Tomasini was born artistically, aged 16, as an “exotic turn”, in a smoky club by the port of his hometown of Palermo, Italy. After taking his first steps in legitimate theatre in Rome, with actor Duilio Del Prete and a brief but formative experience with the Dario Fò family, he moved to London. Here he played lead roles with experimental theatre companies (Lindsay Kemp), in Off-West End productions (Blind Summit‘s “Mr China’s Son“) and on the West End (“Chicago – The Musical“). He went on to create his own shows (“True or Falsetto?“) to critical acclaim, giving birth to a cult following. He has performed in fourteen different nations (and in four languages): from Mexico to India and from Russia to Greece. More recently he has been playing only roles written especially for him (Roberta Torre‘s “Aida“). Throughout the years he never abandoned the cabaret scene and even today makes very sporadic appearances at various events (like Franko B‘s Untouchable series). His collaborations with Ron Athey and Carlos Motta are among his more recent forays into performance art. Ernesto has performed at two editions of the London Fashion Week, for Lady Gaga‘s milliner Nasir Mazhar, at Pitti Uomo 2017, for Carlo Volpi, and at other major fashion events around Europe. A sought-after lecturer on theatre history and techniques, he has taught in drama schools, universities and opera houses in UK, Spain, Italy and Mexico. In 2016 he gave a masterclass at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, the only Italian to do so in the institution’s 113 years.
