Wednesday 24th October – post-show talk, moderated by Alessandro Pontremoli
Sophisticated player, sensitive and experienced dancer, Raffaella Giordano is back with a beautiful solo created six years after her latest play. Those who already know her will be happy to see her at Danae. Those who don’t know her cannot miss the opportunity to watch the work of one of the leading artists of the last thirty years and charismatic teacher to many generations. This play draws its inspiration from a book, The hill of summer by J.A. Baker, a quirky and mysterious English writer whose only focus and topic is nature. His eyes are set on the smallest phenomena, and then raise to behold the dizzy greatness that embraces them. In the same way, the dance score unfolds fragments of the natural world, the body language renders the otherwise untranslatable journey, and the self becomes nothing but the source of vision.
“As flowers on a lawn, my usual themes peep out. My dress is like a sky or an earth, a background colour with blurred contours, the mark of a porous soul. Dear viewer, I present you with this journey of mine, a reflection on mirror of a heavenly chant.”
