Recurring and highly valued presence in Danae for her radical scenic writing, Silvia Rampelli and the company Habillé d’eau present Abstract, a play where the figure and the essence of the performers are cut out and emphasized in a frontal placement, lengthy and lightsome. Simultaneity without narration. Action that does not represent. An unmissable single take on the matter, on its questioning face.
“Abstract stages the power of image when the narration loses its grip (…) and its place is taken by a swarm of gestures subtly hinted and immediately revoked by a performing dialectic that enters and exits the action, according to the alternation between stepping forward and backing off – inherited by Silvia Rampelli from her maestro Masaki Iwana – which makes the meaningless stand out on stage.” (Attilio Scarpellini)

Silvia Rampelli/Habillé d’eau, graduated in philosophy, bases her reflections on the nature of act, on the scene as a perceptive device, on the human element. In 2002 she founded Habillé d’eau, a project of independent performing and practical research, later joined by Alessandra Cristiani, Gianni Staropoli, Eleonora Chiocchini, and recently by Valerio Sirna. Habillé d’eau was produced – among others – by La Biennale di Venezia directed by Romeo Castellucci, by the Centro per la Sperimentazione e la Ricerca Teatrale di Pontedera, and was invited to the major Italian festivals, as well as in France, Bosnia, United States, Poland. Several are the critical essays published by them and their awards. Among the latest essays: Il corpo insorto nella pratica performativa di Habillé d’eau, edited by Ada D’Adamo, Editoria e Spettacolo, Roma 2012. Prologo e dialogo di Strutture elementari dell’azione, text chosen by Attilio Scarpellini for the section of Enciclopedia delle Arti Contemporanee. I portatori del Tempo, volume III. Il Tempo inclinato, edited by Achille Bonito Oliva, Mondadori Electa, Milano 2015. Outsider – Le ragioni dell’indipendenza. Scritti, visioni e algoritmi, edited by Viviana Gravano, Paolo Ruffini, Editoria e Spettacolo, Spoleto 2016. Among their awards, the 2018 Premio Ubu as Best Dance Play for Euforia.
A meeting with Attilio Scarpellini, journalist, essayist and theatre critic, will be held at the end of the play.
