Danae Festival, in a first-time collaboration with MILANoLTRE, presents the latest work by Francesco Marilungo, an artist hosted and followed by Danae since his debut and well known to our audience. In Party Girl he devised the choreography and directed a threesome of outstanding dancers. The play reflects on the process of objectification of the female body and the dynamics of power often related to the sex market. Postures and movements that can trigger desire in the collective imagination are the starting point of a minimal dance created by the dancers, a stylized and slowed down code unfolding against a background with three TV sets which, like forlorn relics, liven up with images of liminal places where the ‛illicit’ can come out into the open.

Francesco Marilungo took a degree in thermal-mechanical engineering and, after a research period in aerospace aerodynamics, turned to performing arts attending the dance theatre Academy Paolo Grassi in Milan. He worked as a performer for various Italian companies and started his own choreographic career. With an eye at the compositional rigour of RTC (Real Time Composition), he has focused on the creation of atmospheres obtained by juxtaposing images with several layers of representation. In his works the body conveys the duality of the iconic/narrative levels to examine the archetypes of the collective imagination, with a special attention to all that relates to perturbing and forbidden desires.
